Moodlakatte IMJ Institutions organized an interactive session with Padma Shri Dr. Kiran Seth, Former Prof. emeritus, IIT Delhi and founder of SPIC MACAY a non profit organization which promotes Indian heritage and the spirit of volunteerism.
While speaking to the students of IMJ Institutions, Dr. Kiran Seth, emphasized the importance of improving the deep concentration for achieving anything life. He told our great Indian heritage has given us the wonderful tools for improving concentration like Yoga, Indian classical music and many more. He gave an example of a student, IIT topper, who hailed from a village school, where he was made to practice yoga for half an hour by a yoga guru and one hour Indian classical music on a daily basis, which helped him to improve his concentration to laser sharp and without any coaching he could secure top rank in IIT.
He also told, mind is like a mad monkey and if monkey can be trained to dance to the tune of the trainer, then mind also can be trained to concentrate in the direction which we want and it is possible by the constant practice of yoga and classical music, which helps for the development of sustained concentration. He also opined while studying, correct posture with stillness, straight backbone will help to improve concentration.
He also told many great innovators and researchers were musicians quoting many from Albert Einstein to Dr. Abdul Kalam.
He advised students to learn classical music to understand, appreciate and involve in it, which is having lot of benefits for the overall personality development of the students.
